Noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs for sleeping?
Share
To sleep in peace, two camps face off: noise-cancelling headphones and earplugs. Both soften noise, but for the night, one is clearly more suitable than the other.
Noise-cancelling headphones
Effective on continuous noise (a plane, ventilation), they also let you listen to music or white noise. But worn lying down, they quickly become the enemy: the headband and cushions press against the pillow, heat up, and shift as soon as you move. Few people sleep a whole night with headphones on their ears.
Earplugs
Discreet, light, they take up no space against the pillow. A low-profile soft silicone goes forgotten and holds all night, even on your side. It's the solution designed for sleeping, not for working.
Comfort, practicality, budget
Headphones are expensive, need recharging and upkeep. Reusable earplugs cost little, rinse and slip in anywhere. For travelling or sleeping at someone's place, the advantage is clear.
The verdict for the night
For daytime concentration, headphones make sense. To sleep, earplugs almost always win — comfort lying down, discretion, hold. It's the use Core was designed for. Core was built for this.
